Biogeografic region: Andean. Elevation range: 300–1600 m a.s.l. Endemic to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Caldas, Córdoba, Risaralda.

National Red List of Colombia (2021): EN B2ab(iii,v). Listed in Appendix II of CITES.
