Biogeografic region: Andean, Caribbean, Pacific. Elevation range: 0–2280 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Atlántico, Bolívar, Chocó, Cundinamarca, La Guajira, Magdalena, Norte de Santander.
